New Vogue Dances
New Vogue dancing is uniquely Australian. The dance style is not “new”, but has been around since the 1930’s.
All New Vogue dances are based on a sequence of dance steps which are repeated. They are therefore easy to learn at the basic level, and beginner dancers can quickly develop the confidence of “knowing” the dance by quickly and easily being able to master the basic routines.
The music for each of the Australian New Vogue dances is based on one of the following subcategories:
Fast Waltz Rhythm
Slow Foxtrot Rhythm
March Rhythm
Tango Rhythm
New Vogue dances are also competitive dances in Australia. Although the basic steps are easy, at the higher competitive levels, the emphasis is on styling such as body position and movements and more precise steps.
New Vogue dances are listed below. Each dance style has a link to the home page for that dance which has been designed and developed by Don Herbison-Evans. Don has considerable expertise in both New Vogue dancing and in working with NUDES (Numerical Utility Displaying Ellipsoid Solids). His web pages show computer animation of the dances using his NUDES system.
Thanks Don, for giving permission for me to link from this site to yours.
Don Herbison-Evans in addition to having academic qualifications and practical experience in dance, also has Doctor of Philosophy qualifications (D.Phil), and is Honorary Associate of Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney.
